Some years ago a friend of mine wanted to give his faithful Ford Sierra estate a fitting send off. He suggested I race it at the Ringwood banger racing oval, and maybe, if I fancied it, the demolition derby. It sounded like a great idea and I asked around some people I know for advice.
Or so say the Nissan GT Academy. Their 2011 GT Academy winner is going to compete in GP3 with Arden International after two seasons of racing, along with an intensive driver development programme with Infiniti Red Bull Racing.
Today – TrackDriver Magazine were on location at Donington Park for the final of the Milltek Sport Pilot Required competition.
Eight lucky drivers were selected from the hundreds of entries for today’s grand final. The competition was judged not only on driving ability but also interview technique and how they got on with the pit crew etc. The grand prize was to win a funded seat in the Milltek Sport VW Golf, racing in the Volkswagen Racing Cup for 2014. BTCC Star Tom Onslow Cole was one of the main judges who spent the whole day in the car assessing the drivers potential.
Congratulations to James Walker who emerged the winner! (James Walker& Tom Onslow Cole)
Thanks to everyone at Milltek Sport and VW Racing for putting on an excellent day.
